Olympic Gold medalist, Simone Biles is an American gymnast who boast of over two dozen Olympic and World Championship medals to her credit. The five time Olympic medalist has appeared on two covers for the August issue in 2020.

Childhood

Simone was born on March 14, 1997 in Columbus, Ohio to Kelvin Clemons (father) and Shannon Biles (Mother).

She is the third of four children; two sisters, Adria Biles and Ashley Biles Thomas and a brother brothers, Ron Biles Jr.

Her parents had suffered from alcohol addiction and were not able to take care of their children. Simone and her other siblings had to go into a foster care.

Simone’s maternal grandparents, Ronald and Nellie Biles alongside Ron’s sister Harriet Thomas had to adopt them all.. Simone and her younger sister Adria had to live with Ronald in Houston Texas while the other elder siblings, Tevin and Ashley had to live with their great aunt in Cleveland, Ohio.

Biles was raised in Houston and she came in contact with gymnastics when her daycare group paid a visit to a gymnastic club on a filed trip when she was barely 6 years old.

She started to copy the moves of other gymnasts and soon caught the attention of the instructors. They spotted her and immediately was sent home and given a letter to permit her to join the gymnastics club.

However, she had proved to be a better gymnasts than her peers and so her parents switched to homeschooling after she had finished her primary education to give her more training hours opportunity.

Career

Simone who started doing gymnastics at the age of 6, came through professionally as a level 8 gymnast in 2007.

She claimed he top spot in the vault and balance beam events and was third in all-around American Classics in 2011.

She won almost everything in final season in the Junior leagues which include; the all-round events at the Alamo Classics, the US Secret Classic, the Houston National invitational and the American Classics all in 2012.

She came to prominence at the first year of her senior level where she won the 2013 all-round USA Gymnastics Championship.

She won gold medals at the all-round event in the U.S and world championships in 2014. She also won the floor exercise, vault, balance beam and the all-round titles of the Secret U.S Classics in the same year.

2015 was even better for Biles who won her third all-round gold medal, after winning gold in all four events to become the first woman to win the tile three times in a row and also her 10th gold medal in the international competition in just three years.

Biles won the all-round title at the Pacific Rim Championship tournament in Washington in April 2016 and took a break in 2017 and only to return in 2019 to claim her fifth all-round gold medal and became the first female to hold World Championship medals.

Simone was previously in a relationship with her gymnast boyfriend, Stacey Ervin Jr before they parted ways in March 2020. She and Stacey met at a gym in Texas and began their relationship in 2017.

However, Simone has confirmed her relationship with her new boyfriend, Jonathan Owens, an NFL player, in August 2020.
